The post-Nevo Electric Vehicle Show blues. Until next year that is!

Last weekend Nevo held the first car show in Ireland at the RDS Ballsbridge in over 10 years, and the first fully electric vehicle show in Ireland. With 20,000 tickets sold for the event and a huge selection of brands and models available to see on the day, it turned out to be a fantastic event for all who attended.

With over 200 people waiting for the doors to open at 9:30am, it was a busy day all the way throughout. As an Association, we had our own stand on site alongside our colleagues from Electric Vehicle Association Northern Ireland - EVANI. There was a steady flow of attendees, with current IEVA members stopping by to say hello and chat, while many potential buyers sought information and advice on navigating their EV journey. We truly enjoy engaging in these conversations, providing individuals with the best guidance and accurate information for their individual situations.

Over the course of the day there were a number of talks on the main stage, with committee members taking part in two panel sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Matthew Sealy joined the morning session on 'Future EV Owners - My First Impressions when Switching to Electric' hosted by Cassie Stokes, alongside Conor Buckley from 'We are Human Collective' and Brian Dowling from the 'Dublin EV Owners club', talking about what it is like to make the switch to an EV, and what are the key points to take away.

Annette Lynch Conway joined the afternoon session on 'Current EV Owners - Living with an Electric Vehicle' again hosted by Cassie Stokes, alongside Ger Corbett from 'Sandyford Business District' and Conor Lanigan from 'Applegreen Electric', talking about the here and now in the world of owning and running an EV.

Over the course of the day there were a number of new cars launches for the Irish Market, with the MG Cyberster in a stunning yellow finish, called Photon, being a highlight of the show. It's hard to argue that BEVs have arrived, when a flash yellow convertible is front and centre! We have moved a long way away from the Nissan Leaf or Renault Zoe as being the two main choices! Tesla, Peugeot and Opel also launched their latest models, drawing huge crowds with each reveal, showing the excitement that is to be found in the world of EV. To help add to this, test drives were available all day, and even towards the end of the day, there were still people waiting to take their turn, the demand was constant throughout the day.

Finally, a massive congratulations has to be given to Derek Reilly and the whole Nevo team on this event. We were always confident of the event being a success, but to see the crowds that were in attendance all day and for the excitement around the world of EV, it can only be categorised as a massive success. Here's to an even bigger and better 2025 Nevo Electric Vehicle Show! We cannot wait!!
