As part of the UN conference on climate change, COP26, a declaration was made to work together as a society to work towards all sales of new cars & vans being zero emission globally by 2040, and no later than 2035 in leading markets. Minister Eamon Ryan commented, “Decarbonisation of transport is a major challenge globally and Ireland wants to play its part. We have recently agreed a highly ambitious Climate Action Plan which includes a 51% target for transport by 2030. Today’s declaration on reducing emissions from cars and vans is a strong signal of intent which I am happy to endorse.” The declaration is available to read in full here. The Irish EV Owners Association welcomes the COP26 declaration on zero emission cars and has signed up as part of GEVA.
