Our challenge ? Driving from Mizen Head to Malin head and back in less than 24 hours in an Electric car on the 14-15th NovemberA total distance of over 1300km.

Why ? We want to promote Electric Vehicle (EV) driving/ownership in Ireland, and show that you can drive long distances in an EV.

Who are we ? Jan-Bart Spang and Guillaume Seguin, committee members of the Irish EV Owners Association. We both have EVs; Jan-Bart a Renault Zoé and Guillaume a Nissan Leaf. As well as driving them daily, we also have experience on long trips as we have both carried out international trips in our electric cars.

EVs are suitable to most drivers … they just don’t know they are! Most common preconceptions or concerns are lack of range, and charging network availability. We would like to show that an EV can easily be driven around the country, in a timely manner.

We will drive a Renault Zoé, from Mizen Head to Malin Head through the east and back through the west coast. We will show that the charging network works along motorways but also on N roads and in the west. We will invite anyone who is curious of EV technology and ownership to meet up at our “Chat and Charge impromptus, while the car is charging.
