Irish EV Registrations – April 2022

Another strong month for plug-in vehicle registrations in Ireland, accounting for 23.78% of all new cars registered. Excluding imports, so far this year (January – April) a total of:

  • 7,524 battery-only electric vehicles (BEVs) registered, compared to 3,406 in the same period last year, and;
  • 4,555 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) registered, compared to 3,378 in the same period last year.

Summary
The top-3 registered new BEVs in April were:

  1. Volkswagen ID.4 279
  2. Kia EV6 121
  3. Hyundai Kona 102

23.78% of new car registrations in April 2022 were plug-in, broken down into:

  • BEV 1,286 (16.31%)
  • PHEV 589 (7.47%)

20.9% of all new plug-in car registrations so far (January – April) this year were plug-in, categorised as:

  • BEV 7,524 (13.02%)
  • PHEV 4,555 (7.88%)

Separately, new and used imports accounted for the following plug-in car registrations so far this year (January – April):

  • BEV 95
  • PHEV 1,032
