Irish EV Registrations – March 2023

Registration numbers for March saw them bouncing back up to January levels, helped in large part by high numbers of Volkswagens, Teslas, and Skodas. Overall, plug-in vehicles accounted for 27.7% of all new cars registered:

  • 3,412 (19.4%) BEVs, and;
  • 1,478 (8.4%) PHEVs.

This indicates that for the first quarter of the year plug-vehicles accounted for 24% of all new vehicles registered (in 2022 this was 20.4%), 9,294 of which were BEVs.

Additional registrations from used imports in March accounted for a further:

  • 207 BEVs, and;
  • 387 PHEVs.

The top-3 registered new BEVs in March were:

  1. Volkswagen ID.4
  2. Tesla Model Y
  3. Skoda Enyaq
