Irish EV Registrations – July 2022

New registrations rebounded in July, with plug-in vehicle registrations accounting for 19.19% of all new car sales in Ireland last month.

Excluding imports, so far this year (January – July) there’s been a total of:

  • 11,182 battery-only electric vehicles (BEVs) registered, compared to 6,294 in the same period last year, and;
  • 6,422 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) registered, compared to 6,378 in the same period last year.

Summary

The top-3 registered new BEVs in July were:

  1. Volkswagen ID.4 703
  2. Volkswagen ID.3 396
  3. MG 5 178

19.19% of new cars registered in July 2022 were plug-in, comprised of:

  • BEV 2,738 (12.51%)
  • PHEV 1,463 (6.68%)

20.21% of all new plug-in car registrations so far (January – July) this year were plug-in, categorised as:

  • BEV 11,182 (12.84%)
  • PHEV 6,422  (7.37%)

Separately, new and used imports accounted for the following plug-in car registrations so far this year (January – July):

  • BEV 222
  • PHEV 1,935
