Irish EV Registrations – February 2023

The high number of registrations continued into February, with plug-in vehicles accounted for 25.9% of all new cars registered:

  • 2,209 (16.8%) BEVs, and;
  • 1,190 (9.1%) PHEVs.

Year to date this indicates BEV registrations are up 36.5% v. the same period in 2022, whereas PHEV registrations are only up 3.0%. Further significant uptick is anticipated in March, April as the first shipments of Teslas in months arrives into the country.

Additional registrations from used imports accounted for a further:

  • 88 BEVs, and;
  • 329 PHEVs.

The top-3 registered new BEVs in February were:

  1. Volkswagen ID.4
  2. Hyundai Ioniq 5
  3. Audi Q4 e-tron
