EV info, roles and network expansion update from ESB ecars

We have recently put together our own New EV Owners Guide where we tried to clearly set out the important info you need to get started. With this, and for those who use the ESB ecars public network, it is worth highlighting their own info that they have put together. ESB ecars have their own EV Quickstart guide here, as well as an EV Glossary here. Both links are downloads, but you can find more complete info on their site here.

As ESB ecars continues to expand their network, they need to expand their team. And this may be of interest to some of you who might want to work in the EV space! We can see that they have an open role currently for a Senior Operations Manager here, with hopefully more roles to come. For some people, this might be something they would love to get involved with in the roll-out of EV Charge points, so worth keeping an eye out there for this and more!

We all want to see the public charging network expand to help serve the uptake of EV's that we are seeing. ESB ecars announced their plan to deliver 50 hubs in July of 2021. By the end of 2022 they had completed 20 hubs, and for the end of 2023 that has now reached 37 hubs. Currently the ESB ecars network stands at 1,500 Charge points across all of Ireland, with a target of 3,000 chargers by 2030. With the majority, if not all, of these chargers accommodating dual vehicle charging, it will enable nearly 6,000 vehicles to charge simultaneously. We are just at the end of January 2024, but we are looking forward to seeing a further three hubs go live in the next few weeks that are in construction in Blanchardstown, Carrickmines and Roscommon.

Finally, as a Committee we are in regular contact with ESB ecars in relation to the important topics that need to be addressed, with our most recent meeting being this month. We see the issues as they are highlighted through our Social channels, email, and our online chat on our site. Where applicable to ESB ecars, we bring these back to them on your behalf to highlight what you, our members, have to say. We want you to know that we are working on these important topics and working to get the best outcome we can for our members.

As always, we want your feedback on any issues or topics you may have. So please continue to reach out to us!
